Candidates for residency may be ensembles at any stage of professional development; emerging, or mid-career for whom a residency at Avaloch might make a significant impact on their careers, or established ensembles for whom the unique environment and support will offer refreshment and inspiration.
Avaloch Farm Music Institute encourages and welcomes the participation of musicians from all backgrounds and does not discriminate with regard to age, race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, marital status or nation of origin in its admission policies.
Length of Stay
Length of residencies can vary from one to three weeks.
New Music Initiative
The New Music Initiative brings together ensembles working with a composer or collaborator on new material, for intensive farm-wide new music themed weeks. Ensembles interested in completing a New Music Initiative project may apply for residencies at any point during the five-month season. We will curate NMI weeks throughout the season, based on the availability of groups which are accepted with a relevant project.
We will also accept ensemble/composer collaborations during weeks that are not designated as exclusively New Music Initiative times.
