We hope you are all doing as well as possible in our changing and challenged world. Like you, we are taking stock. Although Avaloch’s residential season has been put on hold, we certainly have not paused our interest in you and your work, and our commitments to the community. We are strengthening our alumni outreach, aligning our mission with the global community effort to reduce our carbon footprint, and building programs to enhance the experience of future Avaloch residents.
We strongly believe your connection with Avaloch does not end when you head back to the airport. We are enhancing outreach to our alumni by taking steps to increase communication, maintain connections, and support residents post-stay. First off, you are now receiving the inaugural edition of our bi-annual newsletters scheduled to be sent at the start of the season in June and at the end in November. Additionally, we have dedicated staff time for our social media channels:
-Facebook will be our primary spot for up to date news and announcements.
-YouTube will be kept fresh with the latest video clips.
-LinkedIn will offer residents the ability to Avaloch tag their profile and join an Avaloch alumni only discussion group.
In addition to supporting you via re-posts of your tours or special announcements on our FaceBook page, we are providing more direct support through the Made at Avaloch livestream concert series. Those selected will be highlighted on our social media channels and website in addition to be being paid a stipend. Discussion on how to support our alumni community continue, so please feel free to send us your ideas.
Although our alumni hail from many nations, we are all citizens of Earth. Avaloch uses approximately 110,000 Kwh of power every year for our electrical needs. In order to envision the future of Avaloch, we first need to envision the future of our environment. With the support of Fred Tauber, we are excited to announce that Avaloch has started the initial design process for a ground solar array that will cover all of our electrical needs. In addition to net-zero electricity use, our plan is to install 2 solar car chargers to help you do the same. We have also taken steps via an energy audit to further conserve electricity so we can build an energy credit bank well into the future.
Speaking of the future, there is great effort undertaken to enhance your experience before, during and after your Avaloch stay. Our old PDF application is going away and being replaced with a streamlined application process on the Acceptd platform. Acceptd is the leading application platform for the music industry. No more emailing or posting your supporting media files and references since they will all be submitted within the Acceptdapplication. If you already are a registered member of Acceptd you can simply use your current profile to apply to Avaloch. To better your experience while at Avaloch a hotelier system will be installed so you can provide all of your accommodation and diet needs months in advance. This will enable our housekeeping and kitchen staff to be well prepared for your arrival. In order to sustain our connection post-season we have created an Alumni database that will foster tying together our community.
Personally, I am sad to not share this summer with you. My most memorable nights are the ones which my husband and I walk from our home to the Avaloch campus on a Friday evening, grab a cookie (okay a few) and become immersed in beautiful music by talented artists. I am heartened by the fact that I will still get to listen to many of you via the Made at Avaloch series and perhaps get Dian to bake a few cookies.
Wishing you a safe and memorable summer.
