Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble comes to Avaloch to provide an intense retreat designed for musicians seeking to improve their relationship with music through score study, interpretation, creative linking with other art forms, rehearsal planning and technique, leadership, and physical gesture. Join us for a special event with Scott Kirby and Gabriel Donohue!
Singer, songwriter, guitarist, storyteller, traveler and road warrior are all words that aptly describe Scott Kirby. Finishing songs while driving through the Italian countryside, performing 100 plus live shows throughout the US and Canada, touring Ireland with 50 fans in tow, and recording his tenth album in Nashville, all keep the barnacles off this modern-day troubadour. He performs mostly on guitar and piano but also plays many more instruments from bouzouki/mandolin to irish and exotic percussion. He has recorded with the Boston Pops, Eileen Ivers, Joanie Madden, James Keane, Sean Quinn, Brian Conway, John Whelan, Karen Mal, Aoife Clancy, Liam Clancy, to name a few.

Blackman, Murray, Russo comes to Avaloch Farm Music Institute to perform their latest project, “Once Upon a Prairie” , a multimedia exploration of the loss and renewal of the American grasslands told through projected images and a musical fusion of Americana and jazz.

OneBeat in Concert
Join the OneBeat Fellows for a live performance at the Avaloch Concert Barn.
OneBeat is the leading multinational music exchange of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) that uses the power of creative collaboration as a gateway to civic discourse and cross-cultural understanding.
This concert will feature 25 OneBeat fellows (representing 20 different countries in total) who will be in residence for two weeks at Avaloch. Guest artists for the OneBeat 14 residency include renowned multi-instrumentalist and instrument builder Mark Stewart, composer and saxophonist Matthew Evan Taylor, and composer and producer Emily Wells, each of whom will lead fellows in creative exercises and masterclasses leading up to their performance and subsequent tour.

The Northeast Chamber Music Seminar, formerly the Lake Placid Chamber Music Seminar, offers adult string players and pianists of all levels the opportunity to play, study and perform great chamber music literature on the beautiful campus of Avaloch Farm Music Institute in Boscawen, NH.
AVALOCH ARTISTIC PARTNERSHIP: Composers Conference Gala
The Composers Conference celebrates eighty years of exceptional musicking with a full day celebration August 4, 2024! This event brings alive the Conference’s mission to nurture the creation, performance, and appreciation of music. New works created for our anniversary will be premiered by the Conference Ensemble, conducted by MD Vimbayi Kaziboni. Additional new works will be performed by our Chamber Music Workshop Participants, plus performances of new music created by young musicians through our New Music/New Communities Initiative. The day closes with an elegant dinner on the campus of the Avaloch Farm Music Institute; Space for the dinner is limited and reservations are required.

AVALOCH ARTISTIC PARTNERSHIP: The Hop - This Is America: Part IV featuring Artist Johnny Gandelsman and a Hopkins Center for the Arts at Dartmouth commission ‘Flamenco Suite’
This is America comes as a response to the turbulent year of 2020 and celebrates America's rich cultural tapestry as seen through the perspectives of contemporary US-based composers.
Over the course of a year-long residency at the Hop, violinist and former member of Silkroad Ensemble Johnny Gandelsman performs the entire anthology for the first time and expands the project with four new Hop-commissioned pieces. Flamenco Suite composer Gonzalo Grau will be in attendance to shed light on his new work.
