Unrestricted and Restricted Gifts
When a gift is made to the general fund (i.e. “unrestricted”) you do not specify or direct how you wish your donation to be used. Rather, you allow our staff to allocate the gift to where most needed. Unrestricted gifts allow us the greatest operational flexibility. When you want to earmark a donation to a specific function or cause you would make a restricted gift. Examples of restricted gifts include investing in energy efficiency projects, infrastructure renovation or creation, resident support and online e-concerts.
Memorial Donations and Living Tributes
A memorial gift is a deeply personal way to honor the lives and memories of loved ones we have lost. Paying tribute to special people in our lives with a donation in their honor brings joy to both the donor and the individual being recognized. When considering the ways to support Avaloch, there are also many ways to give.
Cash and Securities
The simplest and most common way to give is with a check payable to Avaloch Farm Music Institute. Credit cards are also accepted. Under the current 2020 COVID legislation, your first $300 is deductible without itemizing. There are other ways to enjoy tax benefits by donating securities. We would work with your financial advisor to determine the gift that has the most benefit for you and the organization.
Tangible Property and Real Estate
Personal property such as fine art or antiques can be donated for placement at Avaloch or to be auctioned off for monetary support. A gift of real estate, such as a primary residence or vacation home, has many benefits. Donors generally enjoy a tax deduction equal to the fair market value of the property and often avoid capital gains.
Matching Gifts
Many companies will match donations from current or retired employees. Please inquire at your company’s human resources office to learn about their specific guidelines and to obtain a matching gift form.
Planned Giving
Through bequests, trusts and other legacy gifts donors help to ensure the sustainability of Avaloch Farm Music Institute by naming the agency as a beneficiary in their estate plans.
